Beyond Valley River Inn
Last week, Fletcher Andrews, Valley River Inn’s Sales Manager, was in Guatemala taking part in Cascade Medical Team’s Stover Team. Andrews and his group were able to provide 120 families with stoves and water filtration units. That helps approximately 800-900 people per year have safe, energy efficient cook stoves and clean, safe drinking water. Each stove saved 1,440 trees per year and gave family members 3 extra hours in their week because of its efficiency.
“I am super excited and proud to be a part of this team helping the people of Guatemala. It is easy to lose sight of just how good we have it in America, while millions suffer elsewhere just because they were born in another part of the world. I am happy to be fortunate enough to be able to go there and provide them life changing, and even saving, support.” -Fletcher Andrews, Group Sales Manager
According to the World Health Organization, excessive smoke inhalation is the leading cause of death in Guatemalan children under the age of five. The stoves that Andrews and his teammates will install can decrease the numbers of deaths. Along with the stoves, water filters create a practical solution for the need for safe drinking water.

Toys for Tots
The Holidays are officially here and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s annual Toys for Tots Program is in full swing collecting new, unwrapped toys for less fortunate children in our community. The goal of this program is to not only deliver a new toy to a child but also a message of hope that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.
Valley River Inn is proud to, once again, have a drop off bin for anyone wishing to donate to Toys for Tots. New and unwrapped toys can be brought to the front desk. The Valley River Team thanks you in advance for your donations and wishes you a Happy Holiday season.

Fall is definitely here and winter is right around the corner. Join Valley River Inn in supporting Cornerstone Community Housing’s 3rd annual Pajama Drive.
“Cornerstone Community Housing, one of our non-profit partners, helps to get families and individuals placed in homes. Donating pajamas ensures that children will remain warm as the weather starts getting colder.” -Keri Brown, Senior Event Sales Manager
New pajamas of any size can be brought to Valley River Inn’s front desk and will help support this great non-profit. Donations will be accepted through the end of October. From our family to yours, we thank you for your donations.
Bras for Cause
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Valley River Inn team has teamed up with the Oregon Cancer Foundation to create a bra for cause.
“We saw this competition as a chance to help promote a local non profit as well as express our creativity and have a little fun. We have designated our bra the ‘Mobile Bra’ since it will be traveling from event to event to help raise awareness of Oregon Cancer Foundation’s Bras for Cause.” - Keri Brown, Senior Event Sales Manager
Each vote is $1 and the proceeds go directly to cancer patients in Lane County. Winners will be announced on November 3rd at Bras for Cause’s Girls Night Out. As well as announcing the winners of the bra competition, Girls Night Out includes dinner, live music, a fashion show, silent auction and more. Tickets for this event can be purchased at www.brasforcause.org
To place your vote visit www.brasforcause.org and find Valley River Inn’s beautiful turquoise bra. Voting ends October 31st.
